A manufacturer of golf carts sought a more reliable accelerator technology which could withstand
exposure to wash-down, fertilizers and pesticides.

Cherry developed an accelerator sub-system with redundant solid-state and
electro-mechanical inputs. The solid-state Hall-effect component
provided linear output corresponding to the angle of
the accelerator pedal, while the electro-mechanical switch provided
redundant confirmation of pedal position.
