A manufacturer of sub-systems for walk-behind lawn mowers wanted to
provide customers with the ease of electric start in addition
to the traditional pull-start. The device needed to be
adaptable to various mowers and capable of surviving high in-rush currents.

Cherry used an existing high-current snap-action switch
(a 25-Amp “K Series”) for the switching function, then built a rugged
key switch housing around the snap-action switch to survive
the physical abuse of a lawn mower application.

For this custom solution, Cherry employed the following capabilities:
• Key switch design experience
• A broad standard line of high-current
switches available for adaptation and
unique packaging
