A manufacturer of ruggedized
portable computers needed a keyboard with durable key switch
technology in a specific footprint and matched exactly to the
colors of the planned laptop computer. The short key travel and
low profile of a laptop keyboard were also critical.

The customer’s dimensional
requirements precisely matched the dimensions of Cherry’s
standard G80-1800 series compact keyboard, so Cherry created a
customer keyboard around this layout, using in-house low-profile
key switch technology. Cherry then matched keycap color to that
of the portable computer using spectral analysis at our test lab
in Germany. |
